Browse at whim and land on something you can actually use.
The name
WhimRead = whim + read.
The site started from something simple. Wandering around GitHub, I would occasionally hit a tool that was exactly what I needed, and that “I did not know this existed” feeling is good. But the odds are low, and most of the time you are lost in a sea of repositories. WhimRead is an attempt to raise those odds a little, so you do not have to dig through them one by one.
What is here
It currently indexes 12944 open-source projects. Each entry gives a one-line description, the repository and its star count, so you can judge whether it is worth opening.
No sign-up, no login. Just browse.
How to use it
The homepage shows the most recently added projects. For everything, page through thefull indexby category, start fromcategoriesto find one thing, use the search box up top. You can also RSS to updates.
